Artist Statement

This body of work is my investigation into the highs and lows of life. My path or wall-like structures give support but also give a sense of isolation. I use different materials such as foam core, illustration board, tyvek, and Asian papers to build my structures. The structures are designed in such a way that the viewer is able to pick them up and move them creating several different ways of looking at the piece. The structures themselves are covered in prints, one side linear and one side organic or a mixture of both. The organic and linear elements form tension within the structure which mimics the tension between the highs and lows in life.

  1. I am intrigued by the direction you are going in Jess. The break/ window in one of you panel/structures is especially interesting. I love your palette and the overlaying of form. You are on a wonderful path and I am looking forward to watching your process!
